What's on the shelf

Kid lice care, reconsidered.

Most lice products ask you to pick one thing: prevention or treatment, clean or effective. Hushbugs covers both sides — a daily routine that quietly prevents, and a treatment shampoo built for when you need it.

  Hushbugs Fairy Tales, RID, Nix
The approach A clean daily haircare line with named enzymes working quietly underneath. A reactive product you reach for when something is already wrong.
Actives Named enzymes (subtilisin, chitinase, bromelain, papain) at formulation-grade concentrations. Permethrin, pyrethrin, or aromatic oils. Each with its own tradeoffs.
How it feels on hair Soft, conditioned, no buildup. A routine kids ask for. Often drying, heavy, or strongly scented.
How it fits the routine Replaces the shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in you already use. Extra step, unfamiliar scent, not something you use every day.

From the clinic floor

The lice aisle stopped working.

Drugstore treatments have lost their grip on lice. Clinic operators who remove them daily told us the same thing in different words.

By the time they come to us, this cycle has been going on for a year. They've tried drugstore treatment after drugstore treatment. You kill the adult lice, but the eggs keep hatching, and they're reinfested three or four weeks later.

There's no science in anything those essential oil sprays do, other than the smell repellent, really.

Built by parents who wanted something better.

We've done the school emails. The hours of combing. The countless loads of laundry. The middle-of-the-night panic “omg are they crawling on me?”

And figured there had to be a better way.

Hushbugs is mom-founded and parent-led. Calm by design. Smart on purpose. Good products. Good judgment. Even when things get a little gross.

Parents ask

Questions, answered.

Does Hushbugs treat an active case of lice?
Yes. The Treatment Shampoo is built exactly for this — designed to support a fast, thorough comb-out when you need it, while the daily routine keeps hair clear once things settle. Used together, they’re the whole answer.
Is it safe for kids?
The entire line is formulated for kids. No pesticides, no essential oils known to irritate young skin, and the daily products are built to be used every morning without drying hair or scalp. As with any product on sensitive skin, patch test behind the ear before the first full use.
How is this different from Fairy Tales or Ladibugs?
Fairy Tales, Ladibugs, and similar essential oil lines rely on rosemary, citronella, or tea tree to repel adult lice by scent. Hushbugs uses named enzymes that target the protein sheath lice use to cement eggs to hair. Different mechanism, different daily feel, and no medicinal fragrance.
How often do I apply it?
Work the leave-in spray through damp hair every morning as part of the routine. The daily conditioner and shampoo replace what your kid already uses. Reapply the spray after swimming or heavy sweating.
How does it smell?
Scent details coming soon. We’re finalizing the final profile with our clinical chemist now.
Has it been independently tested?
Testing is underway. Results to be published on public release.
What about RID, Nix, or prescription treatments like Sklice?
Those are treatment products built to kill an active infestation, usually with pesticide actives like permethrin or ivermectin. They have a place when a case is active. Hushbugs is built upstream of that — a daily routine so the treatment aisle is where you rarely have to go.
